Maria Lothe (SE/NO b. 1991) is a dance artist based in Oslo, educated from the School for New Dance (Skolen for Samtidsdans) in Oslo (2012), and Trinity Laban in London (2015). She works in collective constellations as a performer and choreographer, and has received the Norwegian Government Artist Grant for young artists.

As a performer, Maria has worked within dance, theatre and performance art in the UK and Norway. Recent collaborations as a dancer include Resisting Extinction and Togethering by BodyCartography Project and Drag as ecological practice by Maja Roel. She is a company member of the inclusive performing arts company Kompani D, who recently premiered Krets in collaboration with Øy at Dansens Hus in Oslo.

Maria's choreographic interest unfolds at the intersection of queerness, nature and culture, exploring alternative ways of coexisting across species and differences. She combines science and imagination, the playful and the serious.

Together with the queer collective STICKY Productions, she has created and performed Hedda nominated Ecoheroes (Økohelter 2022), a family performance highlighting the superpowers of the forest, and OOZE (2024), exploring the spectacular mating ritual of slugs through a queer lense. Both have been performed at Dansens Hus and selected to tour through Dancenet Norway, amongst others.
